The January sky is peppered with kites, especially on the day of Makar Sankranti, as they symbolize a way to express appreciation and gratitude to God. The angels of primary classes at MM School, Raipur, prepped themselves for the occasion by making their own kites with paper, sticks, and tape in the kite-making activity held in the school on Saturday, 13th January. The fun and frolic of creating beautiful kites of their genius minds was surely a worthy task. Children exemplified the maximum, by doing and learning new kite-making skills. The main learning objectives behind this activity were to
• To have fun
• To solve a problem together and practice: - communication - team building and organization skills.
• To understand that sunlight is a significant and quality source of vitamin D, which is thought to be good for our health.
• By learning how a kite flies, the students will learn about the power of the wind; particularly how drag, lift and gravity enable objects such as kites and airplanes can fly. This knowledge will be used to help design a kite that flies.
It was great to see how our little ones joined in making Kites and learned about the science behind it.
We, at MM School, always focus on clubbing fun and learning parameters together and this kite making activity was a perfect example for that.
